Start: Butler Trail — International Shores, International Shores, 1820 South Lakeshore Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Fresh Trail Conservancy FAQ explicitly identifies International Shores access at 1820 S. Lakeshore and public street parking along S. Lakeshore between Pleasant Valley and Riverside. Use a legal marked street space under current signs and walk park access to main trail. No I 35 work zone parking or private apartment lots. Use designated ordinary visitor spaces, respect reserved spaces and walk through the lot to the signed main path. The address identifies a public facility, not a surveyed stall.
Ride: Follow the signed main path east along the signed lakeside Butler main trail toward Pleasant Valley / Longhorn Shores. Turn after 0.5 outward miles or before the first public-road crossing, work barrier, uncertain continuation or uncomfortable transition, whichever comes first; retrace. Walk any initial lot or access-drive interface. Do not use a road or private-property detour.
Distance: Chosen 1-mile maximum return, not the full regional corridor or a surveyed parking-to-parking distance. Earlier interfaces shorten the outing; parking walking is extra.
Permission and effort: Source-backed ordinary bicycle use on the designated improved main path; walking-only spurs and adjacent private property are excluded. Short lakeside return is an editorial modest-effort selection supported by city shared-use / as-constructed accessible course context, not a numerical slope or all 10 mile loop accessibility guarantee. Walk access ramps and turn before uncomfortable terrain.
Planning: Daylight and posted local park / street-parking terms. Boardwalk 5 AM–midnight is not a blanket whole park night recommendation. No current ordinary access tariff established; posted terms govern. Event, camping and rental charges are separate. Ordinary pedal bicycles on designated Butler main trail. Yield to walkers, announce passes, walk crowded ramps and obey current closures. Do not use grass event circuits or private drive shortcuts.
Access reviewed October 20, 2026 Central (October 21 UTC): Fresh October 20 city closure body retains south I 35 boardwalk work beginning as early Oct 12 for one week, followed by restricted access through early 2027. Expired one-week forecast is not reopening. This course heads east from International Shores away from I 35; it does not use north Confluence work, I 35 underpass or the full lake circuit. Stop before dam/road/bridge construction or any earlier barrier. This is a dated source review, not a field inspection or current-day all-clear. Postpone for snow, ice, high water, soft tread or barriers rather than improvising a bypass.
Bring water and choose suitable weather. Parking walking is extra. No surveyed parking-space pin or navigable GPX is supplied.
