Nevada · Other separated ride
From the lower lot take the signed Historic Railroad railbed toward the tunnels. Turn after at most half an outward mile or BEFORE the first tunnel, uncomfortable exposed edge, rough tread or barrier; retrace. Stay on the main railbed, omit tunnels and all dam-end ramps / loops. Walk the parking connection and do not improvise a roadway bypass.

Boulder City / Lake Mead, Nevada · Up to 1 mile return · Improved compacted gravel railbed; firm dry tread only
Start: Historic Railroad — Lakeshore Road head, Historic Railroad public trail lot BELOW Lake Mead Visitor Center, Lakeshore Road, NV. NPS explicitly identifies the lower public trail lot, distinct from the upper visitor-center lot and dam garage. Walk the signed railbed connection and turn back if the entrance or exposed edge is uncomfortable. Use designated ordinary visitor spaces, respect reserved spaces and walk through the lot to the signed main path. The address identifies a public facility, not a surveyed stall.
Ride: From the lower lot take the signed Historic Railroad railbed toward the tunnels.
Distance: Chosen 1-mile maximum return, not the full regional corridor or a surveyed parking-to-parking distance. Earlier interfaces shorten the outing; parking walking is extra.
Permission and effort: Source-backed ordinary bicycle use on the designated improved main path; walking-only spurs and adjacent private property are excluded. NPS rates its activity easy; eleven feet of elevation change is not total ascent or maximum grade. Older manager evidence gives steeper dam-end ramps; this short course excludes the dam loop and turns before the first tunnel. Exposed edges may make it unsuitable even at low grade.
Planning: Choose daylight and obey posted gate / parking hours. NPS explicitly places this trail in the park fee area; retain pass / proof of admission with the vehicle. Do not assume free parking because it lies below the visitor center. Yield to walkers and horses where present, keep right and announce passes. Obey posted speed, helmet and pet requirements. Ordinary pedal bicycles covered here; no blanket e-bike-class permission inferred.
Access reviewed October 20, 2026 Central (October 21 UTC): Fresh NPS seasonal notice explicitly exempts this trail from strenuous-trail summer closure. That is not current storm / tunnel clearance. End before the first tunnel, at half a mile or earlier for rough tread / exposure; no tunnel passage or dam descent required. Bring all water and choose cool weather. This is a dated source review, not a field inspection or current-day all-clear. Postpone for snow, ice, high water, soft tread or barriers rather than improvising a bypass.
Bring water and choose suitable weather. Parking walking is extra. No surveyed parking-space pin or navigable GPX is supplied.
