Tulsa River Parks — 41st Street Plaza before I-44
Oklahoma · Other separated ride
River Parks describes its hard-surface river trails as mostly flat, with steeper connections at Turkey Mountain parking and the Katy Trail near Gilcrease Museum Road. This outing avoids those connections. It offers a short taste of the river corridor without requiring a bridge crossing to the west bank or a trip through the interstate underpass. “Mostly flat” is a qualitative owner description, not a measured maximum slope or an accessibility certificate for every approach.

Tulsa River Parks — 41st Street Plaza before I-44 — detailed guide
Source review: 2026-10-16. A dated source review does not guarantee current-day conditions.
About 1.7 miles out and back on the main cycling path, plus the parking walk. Start at the public 41st Street Plaza on the east bank of the Arkansas River, ride south and turn before the interstate underpass. This short outing stays on one bank and uses the designated cycling side of the parallel paths. The editorial draft is complete; current operating checks and USA publication remain outstanding.

Arrive at 41st Street Plaza
Use the Plaza’s designated public parking beside Riverside Drive at East 41st Street. The trail owner confirms visitor parking, restrooms and a river overlook here. The park and its long parking area are on the west side of Riverside Drive, between the road and the river. The administrative office on South Columbia Avenue is a different destination, and the River West Festival Park is on the opposite bank.
Walk your bicycle through the parking area toward its southern end. Use the public paved connection to the main path as it curves southwest around the southern side of the plaza, then continue south. This approach does not require crossing Riverside Drive. Parking aisles carry cars, so the description does not promise a protected walk from every space. Do not use apartment parking or another private lot across the road as an alternative start.
The playground, water features, paths through the plaza and river overlook attract families on foot. Walk through those gathering areas instead of using them as a cycling shortcut. The splashpad’s seasonal operating hours are different from trail access hours; do not expect its summer water service during an October ride.
Follow the cycling path south
River Parks marks parallel lanes for different users. The cycling lane is the one nearest the street; the path nearer the river is for pedestrians and strollers. Follow the actual bicycle symbols and signs. Where the paths divide again farther south, continue on the street-side cycling branch. Return on that same designated cycling path, keeping right for your direction of travel.
The river stays on your right when riding south, while Riverside Drive remains to your left. Several neighborhood streets end at Riverside Drive on the other side of the road; this outing does not turn into them or cross the boulevard to reach them. Stay on the park path at junctions, and give people approaching from the plaza, disc golf areas and river overlooks room to cross. A separate path is not a guarantee that maintenance vehicles will never be present.
The I-44 bridge is the turnaround landmark. Stop and turn before entering its underpass, on the clear northern approach, or turn earlier if that is more comfortable. Check behind you and avoid blocking the cycling lane. The reference course stops north of the bridge rather than riding into its shadow, under the highway or onto an access road. No surveyed turning pad or guaranteed current stopping clearance is supplied.
Retrace the same street-side cycling path north. Near the plaza, slow for the curves and pedestrian connections, then walk the parking approach back to your car. Do not substitute the riverside pedestrian parallel as the return leg. This is an out-and-back ride on a two-way cycling path, not a loop using one path in each direction.
Distance and practical limits
The selected regional map geometry gives approximately 0.86 mile each way, or 1.72 miles for the main return. The guide rounds that to about 1.7 miles, with the parking walk extra and unmeasured. The actual place where you turn before the bridge can change the total. This is a planning estimate from approximate public source lines, not a newly surveyed track or a precise parking pin.
The larger river network has several published lengths, covering different banks and connections. None of those totals is the mileage of this short outing. It does not include the west bank, the Katy Trail, the Creek Turnpike Trail or Turkey Mountain’s dirt trails.
River Parks’ published curfew is 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.; choose daylight for this outing and obey any more specific parking controls or temporary work signs. Ordinary parking charges and posted duration limits at the selected lot remain unverified. Event rental charges do not establish the ordinary visitor tariff. Bring water and check whether restrooms are open when you arrive.
Research checked October 16, 2026. Current owner pages establish the main trail’s surface, cycling use, lane arrangement and general terrain. Public aerial views were reviewed along the parking approach and selected corridor. The owner’s currently linked map is an older document, created in 2016; its construction symbols are not current closure notices. The updates page directs visitors to social accounts and does not itself provide a named, current all-clear for this section.
Before publication and before riding, refresh the lot’s posted terms, the signed walking connection, bicycle-lane markings, pavement, work barriers and turning clearance north of I-44. Shorten the outing or turn back for a closure or uncomfortable approach. No matching full-course video or public navigation download is approved.
